Ernie Bailey

Ernie Bailey earned his PhD in genetics at the University of California, Davis in 1980, working with Professors Clyde Stormont and Domenico Bernoco. Since then, he has been on faculty at the University of Kentucky and conducting research in areas of horse genetics. Areas of research have included horse blood groups, major histocompatibility genetics, gene mapping and investigations of horse diseases and coat colors. Ernie Bailey has been a member of the International Society of Animal Genetics since 1980 and has served on the Executive Committee, the Editorial Board of Animal Genetics, and participated in workshops on horse parentage, horse genomics and immune response genetics.
