Instructions for Oral and Poster Presenters
Poster Upload Details
Upload a PDF of your poster: This is required if you opted to participate in the poster competition. This will allow judges to view your poster in advance. You still MUST print and mount your poster on the poster board.
Upload a PowerPoint of your oral presentation: Speakers should prepare their presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint (preferably PowerPoint 2010 version or newer -.pptx format). All PowerPoint presentations must be uploaded prior to the session.
Please submit a copy of your presentation on or before 11:59 CDT on the 13th of July 2017. To ensure compatibility with the Conference data projectors, please ensure that the PowerPoint slide size (DESIGN Tab – Slide Size) is set to Standard (4:3), not Widescreen (16:9).
All presentation need to be upload in advance.
Presenters should submit their presentations in advance of the meeting electronically no later than 11:59PM CDT Thursday, July 13, 2017.
To upload your PDF or PowerPoint you will use the same application used to submit the meeting abstracts. Select the “Login and Manage Abstracts” Link and be sure to use the same account login information that was created at the time of submission. If you do not recall this information, use the “forgot password” link on the login page. Once you are logged in, click the "add/manage documents" link for your abstract in the table to go to the upload page.
If you are an invited speaker who did not submit an abstract, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for instructions. Do NOT send your presentation file by email unless specifically asked to do so.

Instructions for Abstract Submission
DUE DATE: MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 11:59 p.m. CST, March 1, 2017
Members are encouraged to submit abstracts describing original, completed basic or applied research of relevance to the International Society for Animal Genetics (ISAG) that has not been accepted for publication in a journal.
All abstracts must be submitted electronically using the link below. Please read all instruction prior to submitting your abstract.

The abstract submission deadline is March 1, 2017. After the deadline, it will not be possible to submit or revise abstracts. When you submit an abstract, you will be given a five-digit abstract tracking number. You will be able to revise your submitted abstract at any time before the deadline.
Due to space restrictions, submission length is limited to a maximum of 2,300 characters including spaces. Abstracts that are too long will be rejected automatically by the system. It is recommended that all abstract components (title and body) be copied directly from a word processing file. The formatting and special characters will carry over directly into the abstract system.
The author submitting the abstract is responsible for the content, the quality of the preparation, and ensuring all co-authors are properly listed on the abstract.
Abstracts are required for all submitted posters, invited presentations, symposium presentations, poster competitions, and travel bursaries.
Abstracts to be considered for ISAG/IFAG travel bursaries and early career awards will be reviewed by an ad hoc committee appointed by the ISAG Executive Committee. The Overall Program Committee has the responsibility of accepting or rejecting all other abstracts. Criteria for acceptance or rejection include those outlined in these instructions as well as the "Quality Standards for Abstracts," as well as originality, clarity, and merit.
- Abstracts may contain a maximum of 2,300 characters including spaces. The character count excludes authors and institutions but includes the abstract title.
- Abstracts can be edited until the submission deadline on March 1, 2017, 11:59 p.m. CST.
- It is recommended that all abstract components (title and body) be copied directly from a word processing file. The formatting and special characters will carry over directly into the abstract system. No additional coding will be necessary.
- Please ensure that your abstract does not contain spelling, grammatical, or scientific errors, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. No proofreading will be done.
- The submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the presenting author to present the abstract (if accepted) as an oral or poster presentation in the session assigned and at the time assigned by the ISAG 2017 Scientific Committee. We therefore recommend that submitters of abstracts register for the conference as soon as registration opens.
- Choose the session/workshop carefully. Select from the dropdown list the session/workshop that you think is most appropriate for your abstract. Your abstract will be made available to the chairperson of the session/workshop you choose, who will decide if it will be chosen for an oral presentation.
- Refer to the list of key words found here when deciding on the key words for your abstract. Keep the number of key words to the minimum required to clearly communicate the topic of your abstract. You should have no more than five key words. The key words will be used to determine if your abstract is of interest to any other session/workshop than the one you chose above. You will be advised if it is chosen for oral presentation in another session/workshop.
- Abstracts not adhering to these guidelines will be rejected. If you do not agree with any of these rules, you should not submit an abstract.
If you need to withdraw your abstract, a written statement reflecting the reasons for this decision must be sent to the ISAG Overall Program Committee via the ISAG Business Office (email@example.com) no later than April 1, 2017.

Authors will be sent an e-mail by April 1, 2017, indicating the status (accept or reject) of their abstract. As soon as the program is finalized with dates, times, and locations, it will be posted to the ISAG 2017 meeting website (expected May 6, 2017) and authors will be emailed with their presentation information. Printed programs will be available on site in Dublin, Ireland.
Quality Standards for Abstracts
An abstract is a communication of restricted length that permits informed readers to evaluate significant contributions of a scientific study, method, or technique of teaching or extension. An abstract becomes a part of the permanent literature. Therefore, clearly stated, simple sentences with exact wording must be used to ensure clarity and brevity.
An Abstract Should Include...
- The objective(s) of the presentation is to be clearly and concisely stated at the beginning of the abstract.
- Pertinent methodological conditions (such as population and sample, design, instrumentation, methodology used, assessment of methodology, data collection, and data analysis) are to be included to define the scope of the work.
- The information in the abstract is to include those details that directly influence the interpretation or enhance the understanding of the results or methodologies presented.
- The results are to be compiled, condensed, and presented with great care. Only information that is discussed is to be presented. Only data relating to the objectives are to be reported. Any statistical inferences shall be sufficiently detailed to authenticate interpretation of the data.
An Abstract Is Unacceptable If It
- Contains grammatical errors or meaningless statements such as, "The results will be presented."
- Presents data without appropriate statistical analyses or measurements of data variability.
- Includes no data or statements relating to the objective(s).
- Does not use the metric system.
- Contains typing errors.
- Fails to comply with submission requirements.
- Presents opinion/speculation with no demonstrated use in a teaching/extension experience.
The quality of an abstract for presentation is a direct reflection on the image of the author(s) and the International Society for Animal Genetics.
